AMD-Based IdeaPad Introduced by Lenovo

Lenovo has been quite busy this month with launching a variety of products, including mobile PCs such as new IdeaPads and even a notebook-slate hybrid. Those products were introduced during the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, but it seems that the PC maker has already further expanded its product offering by launching a new device in China. Known as the G455A, the new mobile PC is yet another addition to the IdeaPad line and is powered by Advanced Micro Devices

The new product is based on the AMD platform known as AMD Tigris. The IdeaPad G455A was jointly announced by Lenovo and AMD at an event held in Beijing on January 28th. The laptop uses the AMD Athlon II M320 central processing unit with a frequency of 2.1GHz, 1 GB of RAM and has a 14-inch screen with a maximum resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels. Graphics capabilities are conferred upon the G455A by the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4550.

The Tigris Platform from Advanced Micro Devices was unveiled back in September and it grabbed attention through its support for full HD 1080p playback and a 62 percent faster wireless download rate. The new platform was aimed at the mainstream as market, as well as that for ultra-thin and ultra-portable solutions.

The Lenovo IdeaPad G455A measures 345 × 235 × 26.2 x 35.9mm and weighs 2.3kg. For connectivity, the new IdeaPad model is equipped with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and its Input/Output options also include a VGA output, three USB (universal serial bus) ports and a 0.3 megapixel webcam. The laptop has a SATA hard drive with a storage capacity of 250GB , runs on a 6-cell battery(lenovo ibm thinkpad z61p battery ).
